"Second Genesis" is the title to the first story featured in the Giant-Size X-Men one-shot special published by Marvel Comics. The story was written by Len Wein and co-plotted by Chris Claremont. It was illustrated and inked by Dave Cockrum. It was colored by Glynis Wein and lettered by John Costanza. It was edited by Len Wein. The following three vignettes are all reprinted from earlier isues. The second feature is a Cyclops story titled "Call Him... Cyclop!", which was written by Roy Thomas. It was drawn by Werner Roth with inks by John Verpoorten. It was lettered by Artie Simek. The third story features Bobby Drake and is called "I, the Iceman". It was written by Arnold Drake with artwork again provided by Roth & Verpoorten. It was lettered by Joe Rosen. The fourth and final vignette in this special is called "The Female of the Species" and spotlights the character of Jean Grey, aka Marvel Girl. It was written by Linda Fite, illustrated by Werner Roth and inked & lettered by Sam Grainger. The cover art illustration was rendered by Gil Kane and Dave Cockrum. This issue shipped with a May, 1975 cover date and carries a cover price of .50 cents per copy. This issue is notable for introducing the "All-New, All-Different X-Men", and is a highly sought-after collectible.

- An homage to the cover to this issue was crafted by Ken Lashley and produced as a variant cover to Spirits of Vengeance #1 in 2017. This was a second printing cover, that also included a lenticular variant incorporating elements of the original Gil Kane cover.
