In the town of Pageville, a gangster is skulking in the shadows, looking to rub out a rival mobster named Nemo. An ominous mist descends upon the man, terrifying him. The mist then targets another criminal, who is breaking into the residence of a competitor named Andrew, bent on robbing him. Scared by the mist, the criminal backs into a window and falls out of it to his death. Afterward, a petty thief seeks to rob a blind man. The mist descends, and the thief believes it is a police officer named Mulvaney. Meanwhile, a man named John conducts research in his home regarding alien space creatures that allegedly lurk among us. His wife Ann thinks that he is causing himself too much stress and wants him to rest. John brushes her off and continues studying. The mist visits John's room that night, proving that everything he believed was right. Unfortunately, the visitation fractures John's mind and his wife finds him in a state of mad hysterics.
