Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is an American feature film of the adventure and comedy genres. It is the fifth film in the over-arching Ghostbusters franchise, and the fourth installment in the original film's continuity. The movie was directed by Gil Kenan with a script written by Kenan and Jason Reitman, who directed the previous installment, Ghostbusters: Afterlife. It was produced by Columbia Pictures and Ghostcorps in association with TSG Entertainment. It premiered in Belgium and Indonesia on March 20th, 2024. It was released theatrically in Argentina, Australia, Denmark, Germany, Hong Kong and Mexico on March 21st, 2024. It opened to wide release in the United States, United Kingdom and Canada on March 22nd, 2024. This film sees the return of all of the stars from the previous installment including Paul Rudd as Gary Grooberson, Carrie Coon as Callie Spengler, Finn Wolfhard as Trevor Spengler, Mckenna Grace as Phoebe Spengler, Celeste O'Connor as Lucky, and Logan Kim as Podcast, as well as original film veterans Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts reprising their respective roles as Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, Winston Zeddemore and Janine Melnitz. New faces to the franchise include Kumail Nanjiani as Nadeem, Patton Oswalt as Doctor Hubert Wartzki, and Emily Alyn Lind as the ghost Melody. And of course, the Stay-Puft Marshmallows as themselves.

- Ghostbusters was created by writer and executive producer Harold Ramis along with screenwriter Dan Aykroyd. It was brought to life as a feature film in 1984 by director Ivan Reitman and spawned a sequel named Ghostbusters II in 1989, also directed by Reitman. A remake film, Ghostbusters: Answer the Call was released in 2016 and directed by Paul Feig. Another film installment, Ghostbusters: Afterlife which continues the original continuity, was released in 2021 and was helmed by Ivan Reitman's son, Jason Reitman. The Ghostbusters franchise has also spun-out several animated projects as well as comic book titles and merchandise.
