Ghost Riders are a breed of supernatural creatures featured in the MTV television series Teen Wolf. They served as the principal antagonists for season six of the show.
Ghost Riders are mysterious entities that participate in an event known as the Wild Hunt. They physically resemble mummified humanoids with blackened eyes who wear clothing in the style of the Old West and ride upon large steeds. They are armed with whips and six-shooters that contain a seemingly endless supply of mystical bullets.
During the nights of the Wild Hunt, the Ghost Riders ride the lightning of a passing storm in order to manifest on Earth. They seek out various mortals in a selected territory and steal their soul by shooting them with their weapons or ensnaring them with their whips. Those who fall victim to the Ghost Riders disappear in a cloud of green smoke and are banished to an interdimensional realm that resembles a train station.
Banished individuals are subsequently removed from reality, which is to say, they leave behind no evidence of their existence; not even memories. Reality reconstitutes itself to compensate for their absence, and life goes on for the remaining residents of a community, unaware that their friends and loved ones have ceased to exist.
Although they primarily target humans, they have also banished the souls of supernatural creatures as well, including werewolves. However, the Ghost Riders refrain from any efforts to acquire the soul of a banshee.
