Biography[]

Gene Sergeant was an unscrupulous record producer who worked for Georgia Records. He discovered a disfigured boy named Eugene Root, who was nicknamed "Arseface" due to a failed attempt to take his own life with a shotgun. He found Arseface singing with a band on a balcony in New Orleans.

Sensing great opportunity due to Root's unique look and his inability to actually articulate, Sergeant offered him the chance to actually make it big in the music industry. Capitalizing on Root's voice and appearance, Sergeant's efforts catapulted the young boy into super stardom.

When the gimmick of Arseface's appearance began to wane, Sergeant had him turn heel, keeping his client in the limelight by having everyone turn against him. This tactic resulted in some of Arseface's fans attempting to emulate the same suicidal tactic that ruined Root's face. Once Sergeant realized that he could no longer profit off of Arseface, he took all of the money that had been earned and departed for parts unknown.
