Biography[]
Gemma Sinclair was a cleaning lady who worked at a laboratory in Los Alamos, New Mexico in the 1940s. One evening in 1944, an electrical fire caused an explosion of a small nuclear stockpile buried beneath the facility. The blast wasn't strong enough to be lethal, but both Sinclair and a scientist named Frederic Beechman were exposed to low levels of atomic radiation.'
Eight months later, Gemma and her husband gave birth to a baby girl named Nekra. As both Gemma and her husband were African American, it came as great surprise to them when Nekra was born albino white. Moreover, she was born with tiny fangs that gave her a vampiric appearance.
What became of Gemma Sinclair following the birth of her daugther, but the exploits of Nekra Sinclair are well documented. She grew up to become a super-villain and a partner of several notable criminals including Mandrill, the Grim Reaper and Man-Ape.
