Gargoyles are supernatural creatures of demonic origin. They are considered by occult scholars to be a lower class of demon and have been the subject of folklore for many centuries. The term actually originated sometime around 630 AD in Rouen when St. Romanus allegedly drove a gargouille away from the country.
Description[]
From the Rennaissance period up into modern times, gargoyles have been the basis of a type of Gothic architecture first made popular in France between the 12th and 16th centuries. Gargoyles have been represented as stone statues and reliefs constructed on the cornices of tall buildings to convey rain water from the roof into an aquaduct, gutter or drainage pipe. Many of these seemingly lifeless statues are in fact actual gargoyle creatures, forced to remain immobile, cast in stone for some undetermined period of time.
History[]
In 1951, the siren adventurer known as Venus learned about a nest of gargoyles hiding in the hidden room 1319 on the 13th floor of the Graycar Building in Los Angeles, California. The Gargoyle Queen had assumed a human form calling herself Sylvia Corpo, the alleged daughter of Henry Corpo, founder of the Corpo Construction Company. Sylvia had the power to bring life to the other gargoyles within her brood, but the gargoyles resented Sylvia and rebelled against her. One of them, Gara - King of the Gargoyles, fought with his queen and the two fell into an elevator shaft. The cables supporting the elevator car snapped and it came crashing down on top of them, killing them both. [1]
In an unidentified European county, an evil dark gargoyle was forced to take on human form by a rival gold gargoyle. He assumed the identity of a sculptor named Emil Vogel and kept the statue of the golden gargoyle inside of his workshop. The presence of the gold gargoyle was the only thing that kept the full reign of his power in check. Two fortune seekers named Clive and Billy broke into the sculptor's shop late at night to steal the gold statue. After melting it down, Emil Vogel was then free to transform back into his natural state. He killed Clive and Billy and then set about terrorizing the town. [2]
