Gamera vs. Zigra is a Japanese children's film of the tokusatsu ("suitmation") and kaiju (giant monster) film genres. It is the seventh installment in the Gamera film series. It was directed by Noriaki Yuasa with a screenplay written by Nisan Takahashi. It was produced by Daiei Studios and the Toei Company and premiered in Japan on July 17th, 1971.

  • Gamera was created by director Noriaki Yuasa, writer Niisan Takahashi, and special effects artist Yonesaburo Tsukiji. He first appeared in the 1965 film Gamera, the Giant Monster, produced by Daiei Studios. This film yielded seven sequels, as well as a three-film reboot in 1995. A twelfth film, Gamera the Brave, was released in 2006.
  • The original Japanese title to this film is Gamera tai Shinkai kaijû Jigura, which redirects to this page.
  • There is a total of fifteen credited cast members in this film.
  • Toho Company released their own giant monster movie, Godzilla vs. the Smog Monster, which premieres just one week after the release of Gamera vs. Zigra. July was a good month to be a giant monster fan.
