Gamera: Guardian of the Universe is a Japanese children's film of the tokusatsu ("suitmation") and kaiju (giant monster) film genres. It is the first film in the Heisei era relaunch of the Gamera film series and is the ninth film in the franchise overall. It was directed by Shûsuke Kaneko with a script written by Kazunori Itô. It was produced by Daiei Studios and distributed through the Toho Company. The film premiered in Japan on March 11th, 1995.
