Futurama is an American animated science fiction/comedy series created by Matt Groening, also known for creating the The Simpsons. The series was produced by 20th Century Fox Television and began airing in 1999. It was discontinued in August, 2003, but was revitalized in a series of four direct-to-video animated films from 2007 to 2009. The series follows the adventures of a late 20th-century New York City pizza delivery boy, Philip J. Fry, who, after being unwittingly cryogenically frozen for a thousand years, finds employment at Planet Express, an interplanetary delivery company in the retro-futuristic 31st century.
