Fury Secret Base 8, also known as the Playground, is top-secret government installation operated by the S.H.I.E.L.D. agency. It was originally a site utilized by S.H.I.E.L.D.'s precursor, the Strategic Scientific Reserve. When the SSR evolved into S.H.I.E.L.D., the site was closed down. In the modern era, S.H.I.E.L.D.'s primary base of operations was the Triskelion, but following its destruction, the Playground was re-opened and became the organization's central headquarters.
