The Fury is an American feature film of the science fiction genre that deals with the subject of people with psychokinetic abilities. It was directed by Brian De Palma with a script written by John Farris based on the novel of the same name by Farris. It was produced by Frank Yablans Presentations and premiered in the United States on March 10th, 1978.
The Fury opened in 484 theatres in the United States and Canada and grossed $1,917,075. The following weekend it expanded to 518 theatres and grossed $2,777,291 which placed it at number one at the box office for the week.
The Fury is included among the American Film Institute's 2001 list of 400 movies nominated for the top 100 Most Heart-Pounding American Movies.
