Fred's Wax Museum is a fictional location featured in the 1976 Saturday morning live-action children's series Monster Squad. It was the primary setting for the series and first appeared in the series premiere, "Queen Bee".
Description[]
Fred's Wax Museum is a wax museum owned by a gentleman named Fred. Pretty straight forward, eh? Its exact location is unclear, but appears to be somewhere in Southern California. Wherever it is situated, it is an area known for unusual superhuman criminal activity, perpetuated by such evil-doers as the Astrologer, Queen Bee, and Ultra Witch. As such, Fred hired a criminology student named Walter to work at the wax museum as a night watchmen.
Among the more notable figures found in the wax museum are the likenesses of Dracula, the Frankenstein Monster, and the Wereolf. As it turned out, these were not merely wax figures, but were in fact, the actual monsters themselves.
To pass the time, Walter set up his crime computer inside the chamber where the three monsters laid comatose. Oscillating waves from the machine suddenly brought the creatures to life, much to Walter's surprise. Having lived lives of villainy, the three monsters sought to redeem themselves by fighting against evil, and so they became the Monster Squad. [1]

Notes & Trivia[]
- Dracula was created by Irish author Bram Stoker. He is the titular antagonist of Stoker's 1897 novel Dracula, which was inspired by an actual Wallachian nobleman known as Vlad II, aka Vlad the Impaler.
- Frankenstein, and all related characters, are based on concepts developed by English author Mary Shelley's as presented in her 1818 novel Frankenstein; or, the Modern Prometheus. The Frankenstein story has since been adapted and expanded upon in numerous films, novels, comic books and television projects.
- The Wolf Man was created by director George Waggner and writer Curt Siodmak. He was the central antagonist featured in the 1941 film The Wolf Man by Universal Pictures. Unlike other famous Universal Monsters horror characters, the Wolf Man was an original concept and was not based on any preexisting literary sources.
