Frankenstein is an American comic book limited series of the science fiction and horror franchises. It is an adaptation of the 1818 novel Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus by English author Mary Shelley. The series was published by Malibu Graphics under their Eternity imprint and ran for three issues from March to August, 1989. The series was written by Martin Powell with artwork by Pat Olliffe. All issues were edited by Chris Ulm.

Notes & Trivia

  • Frankenstein, and all related characters, are based on concepts developed by English author Mary Shelley's as presented in her 1818 novel Frankenstein; or, the Modern Prometheus. The Frankenstein story has since been adapted and expanded upon in numerous films, novels, comic books and television projects.
  • Frankenstein (1989) and Frankenstein, Vol. 3 both redirect to this page.
  • This is the third American comic book series to carry the title Frankenstein. It is the first series published by Malibu Graphics.
  • Artist J.W. Somerville illustrated the cover to the first issue of the series with pencil and ink line work. The covers to issues #2-3 were painted illustrations rendered by Pat Olliffe.
  • Issues #1-2 were published monthly, but there was a hiatus between issues #2-3; the final issue being released later in the year.
