Flying Guy is a fictional superhero featured in comic books published by Marvel Comics under their Icon imprint. He appeared in the first issue of the Kick-Ass comic book limited series in 2008. A version of Flying Guy also appeared in the 2010 live-action film adaptation of Kick-Ass.
Biography[]
Flying Guy, real name unknown lived in New York City, New York and was of Armenian descent. He had a history of mental illness, which is part of what prompted him to become a costumed super-hero. He was also inspired by local hero Dave Lizewski, aka Kick-Ass, and put together a costume and a pair of artificial wings.
Flying Guy's heroic debut also turned out to be his only activity as a hero. Standing on the roof of a tall building, he dove off of it with the intention of flying across the city skyline. However, his wing harness failed and he plummeted to his death, crashing onto the roof of a car. [1]
Abilities[]
- Winged flight: Flying Guy used a wing harness that, in theory, enabled him to fly. Perhaps he should have tested it by jumping off of a dog house rather than a multi-story building.
Notes & Trivia[]
- The character of Flying Guy was created by writer Mark Millar and artists John Romita, Jr. and Tom Palmer.
- In both the comic book series and the film, this character is identified as just "Some Armenian guy".
- A script in the early development of the graphic novel refers to him as Flying Guy.
- Flying Guy is the first character featured in both the comic book and the film. He is also the first on-screen character death in both sources.
