Flaying is the act of removing the epidermis from an organism. Also known as skinning. Acts of flaying are most commonly found in films of the horror genre.

• Hellblazer 1: Amateur occultist Gary Lester attempts to exorcise the hunger spirit Mnemoth from a mute Sudanese boy. He succeeds in this endeavor, but the process ends up ripping the boy's skin off, killing him.
• Walking Dead 156: Two Whisperers skin the bodies of two dead roamers in order to cure more skin masks.
