Mysterious Island is an American feature film of the adventure genre. It is a loose adaptation of the 1874 novel Mysterious Island by author Jules Verne. The film was directed by Cy Endfield with a screenplay written by John Prebble, Daniel Ullman and Crane Wilbur. It was produced by Ameran Films and distributed through Columbia Pictures. It was released theatrically in the United States on December 20th, 1961.

Mysterious Island is an adventure novel written by Jules Verne in 1875. It was originally published by Hetzel under the French title L'Île mystérieuse.
This story shares continuity with Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, which also features the character of Captain Nemo. The events of this film are supposed to take place eight years after 20,000 Leagues, even though the events of that story occurred in 1866, less than a year after the events of this story.
