Biography[]

Nica and Father Frank

Nica and Father Frank.

Father Frank was a catholic priest and a recovering alcoholic. He was a friend of Barbara Pierce and her husband, Ian, and lived in Rhode Island. When Barbara's mother, Sarah Pierce, died of an apparent suicide, Father Frank accompanied the family to her mother's home, which was now solely inhabited by Sarah's youngest daughter, Nica Pierce.

Father Frank extended his condolences to Nica and also offered some spiritual insight, but Nica politely declined, revealing that her mother and she were not particularly religious. Following an awkward and uncomfortable conversation about the future of the Pierce homestead, Nica invited everyone, including Father Frank, to stay for dinner.

In the kitchen, Nica and her young niece Alice prepared chili. A Good Guys doll named Chucky, which was possessed by the spirit of deceased serial killer Charles Lee Ray, resided within the house. When Nica and Alice were out of the room, Chucky secretly poured some rat poison into one of the bowls of chili.

Father Frank death

The death of Father Frank.

During dinner, awkward conversation continued until Father Frank began to feel ill. Sweating profusely, he politely excused himself, stating that he had to leave for a "prior appointment". While driving home, Father Frank's illness worsened and he lost control of his vehicle, killing two motorists. Police and emergency services arrived on the scene to find Father Frank pinned to the seat of his vehicle by two pieces of metal, which were holding his neck in place. When the first responders removed the material, they realized that the metal was the only thing holding his head in place, and it rolled off into the back seat of his car.

Notes & Trivia[]

  • The character of Father Frank was created by writer and director Don Mancini.
  • While Chucky was causal to the events that led to Father Frank's death, he was not directly involved in the man's ultimate fate. As such, Father Frank cannot be categorized as a "Chucky victim". Although Chucky had poisoned Father Frank's chili bowl, rat poison is not necessarily fatal, and is reasonable to assume that Father Frank would have lived had he not gotten into his vehicle.
  • Father Frank was the Alcoholics Anonymous sponsor of Highgate, Rhode Island police officer Stanton. Officer Stanton was one of the first responders on the scene of Father Frank's accident. When another highway patrol officer asked if Father Frank had been drinking, Officer Stanton told him that he had not had a drop of alcohol in years.
  • Actor A Martinez is also known for playing Peter Deutch in "The Falling Man" episode of The Hunger in 2000. In 2011 he played Doctor Diego Ortiz in the television movie Mega Python vs. Gatoroid.
