Notes & Trivia[]
- The Fantastic Four were created by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby. They first appeared in Fantastic Four, Volume 1 #1 in November, 1961. By and large, the roster of the Fantastic Four has remained the same over the years, consisting of Reed Richards as Mister Fantastic, Susan Storm as the Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm as the Human Torch and Ben Grimm as the ever-lovin' blue-eyed Thing. Occasional transitory members of the FF have included Crystal Amaquelin, Luke Cage, Scott Lang, and T'Challa.
- This issue carries the approval stamp of the Comics Code Authority.
- This issue includes a Bullpen Bulletins Pro File on editor Ann Nocenti.
- The Thing makes reference to when he was Chief of Security at Project Pegasus. This began in Marvel Two-In-One #53.
- Ben Grimm makes reference to piloting Reed Richards' first starship. This is of course a reference to the events from Fantastic Four #1, which showcased the origin of the Fantastic Four.
- Although some tongue-in-cheek references are made to the Star Wars film series, they are mostly attributed to the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI), also known as the "Star Wars Program".
- It is later revealed that the "Alicia Masters" that appears in this issue is actually a Skrull named Lyja.
- Although it won't be revealed until next issue, the place where Ben and Sharon crash-land is the nation of Wakanda in Africa - home of the Black Panther.
