By and large, the roster of the Fantastic Four has remained the same over the years, consisting of Reed Richards as Mister Fantastic, Susan Storm as the Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm as the Human Torch and Ben Grimm as the ever-lovin' blue-eyed Thing. Occasional transitory members of the FF have included Crystal Amaquelin, Luke Cage, Scott Lang, and T'Challa.
- Dave Hunt is credited as a guest inker in this issue.
- The origin of The Brute, who is Reed Richards of Counter-Earth.
- One of the TV shows that the Impossible Man is entranced by is Happy Days. The characters of Richie Cunningham and Arthur "Fonzie" Fonzarelli appear on-screen.
- Reference is made to actor John Wayne in this issue, who was famous in the 1950s and 1960s for his westerns and war films.
- Ben Grimm gets to use his trademark phrase "It's clobbering time!" while throwing a Southpaw haymaker at The Brute.
