The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is an American live-action television miniseries of the superhero fantasy genre. It takes place within the continuity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and was produced by Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Productions. It features the characters of Sam Wilson, aka the Falcon, and James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes, aka the Winter Soldier, both of whom made numerous appearances in Marvel Cinematic Universe films relating to Captain America and the Avengers. The series stars Anthony Mackie in the role of the Falcon with Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier. The series premiered on March 19th, 2019 on the Disney+ streaming service.

He first appeared in the 2014 film Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The Marvel Cinematic Universe version of James Buchanan Barnes was created by director Joe Johnston and writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.
