Exploding heads are fun. There are a wide variety of methods and tools that may be implemented in order to cause someone's head to explode. In some cases, one need only exert the power of their mind to turn someone's cranium into a gooey mess. Such was the case in the 1981 David Cronenberg film Scanners in which a powerful psionic named Darryl Revok used his powers to cause a newscasters brain to explode.
In DC Comics continuity, Amanda Waller of Task Force X outfits the members of the Suicide Squad with surgical implants, which can be triggered via remote. If she's in a really crappy mood, she'll put these implants at the base of the spine. Upon activation, the implant explodes, decapitating the individual.
