The Exorcism of Emily Rose is an American feature film of the supernatural thriller genre, with an emphasis on demonic possession and exorcism. It was directed by Scott Derrickson with a screenplay written by Derrickson and Paul Harris Boardman. It was produced by Screen Gems and Lakeshore Entertainment and released theatrically in the United States on September 9th, 2005.

- Emily Rose is possessed by six different demons in this film, two of which are identified by name: Lucifer and Belial. Lucifer is of course short for Lucifer Morningstar, aka The Devil. Belial is found in Hebrew texts and may likewise refer to the Devil. He is referenced in Christianity in one source, Corinthians 6:15 of the New Testament by Paul the Apostle, though this too is likely intended as a synonym for Satan. The name has been used extensively in fictional lore relating to demonology.
