The original book was released as a one-shot special. It was later divided into two issues for digital download in March, 2017.The digital edition had a second issues cover variant illustrated by Kelley Jones and spot colored by Carrie Strachan.
It is important to note that Ash Williams has both hands in this issue. Ash originally lost the use of his right hand when it went bad, forcing him to chop it off back in Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn. The reason behind this is because this is actually a simulacrum of the real Ash Williams. This doppelganger was born from Ash's severed hand as revealed in the Evil Dead 2: Beyond Dead by Dawn comic book series.
The real Ash Williams does not appear in this issue.
It is implied that Dracula may be homosexual or at the very least, bi-sexual. On page two he tells Ash, "Would it be too obvious to say that I want to suck your blood? Among other things".
In the Evil Dead mythos, the demon known as Hzxyrioth was responsible for the creation of all vampires.
