The Everglades, most commonly known as the Florida Everglades, is a region of mucky swampland in the U.S. state of Florida. In Marvel Comics continuity, the town of Citrusville is located here. This is also the location of the Nexus of All Realities, which has become the territory of the mysterious swamp monster known as the Man-Thing. This is also where a ship carrying an alien known as Howard the Duck landed many years ago. The criminal scientific research organization, A.I.M. maintained a laboratory in the Everglades. This is also where Project Armageddon was conducted. Scientist Curt Connors maintained a laboratory here, and it was here that he created a serum that turned him into a bipedal monster known as the Lizard.

Points of interest[]

La Hacienda
La Hacienda is a village colony located within the Florida Everglades. The Fountain of Eternal Youth is located here. Residents of the colony have enjoyed a prolonged lifespan thanks to consuming the water from the fountain. However, such a gift also produced an unsavory side-effect in that it transformed them into disfigured purple ogres. These beings became known as The Fathers.
Okealachobee River
The Okealoachobee River was a water way that ran through the Everglades in the U.S. state of Florida. Its path took it near the city of Citrusville. Sorcerer Baron Mordo took control of the swamp monster known as the Man-Thing and set him against his nemesis, Doctor Strange. The two fought in the swamps, which carried over into the Everglades. Strange underestimated the Man-Thing's strength, speed, and guile and the monster was able to get the drop on him. He plunged him beneath the water of the river. Strange could not gain purchase due to the loose silt of the river bottom and even his Cloak of Levitation was not enough to overpower the Man-Thing's strength. The Man-Thing ultimately beat strange and left him to drown face-down in the river. [1] Strange placed himself into a state of suspended animation until he could regain enough strength to revive himself. [2]
