Notes & Trivia[]

  • This issue was released in the middle of a price hike, so while some cover variations boast "Still only 25¢", others have a .30 cents price tag per copy.
  • The tagline for this issue is "More fantastic than Chariots of the Gods! This is it!! The Coming of the Celestials!"
  • This is the first appearance of the Celestials. Only Arishem the Judge is identified by name in this issue. The Celestials made a behind-the-scenes appearance in issue #1 when their space craft first came to Earth. There are also statues three Celestials shown in the God Chamber.
  • This is the first appearance of Tecumotzin, who is an Eternal who also goes by the name Ajak.
  • This issue establishes that it was the Celestials who destroyed the world thousands of years ago (as opposed to God as stipulated in religious texts). They did so in retaliation of an attack perpetuated by the Deviants. Stupid-ass Deviants.
  • This issue establishes that Ikaris guided Noah's ark during the Great Flood.
