One woman named Esther was a brown-haired daughter of a Jewish shop keeper in Germany in the 1930s. The shop keeper had employed a lad named Johann Shmidt, who became attracted to Esther. Johann attempted to woo Esther, but when she spurned his advances, he flew into a rage, pushing her to the floor and beating her to death with a shovel. This was Johann's first murder victim, but it would not be his last, for only a short time later would he become the Nazi leader known as the Red Skull. (Captain America 298)
