"The Defenders" is the second volume in the Essential Defenders line of economically priced trade paperback collections, which is part of the greater "Essential Marvel" line of titles published by Marvel Comics. This volume reprints issues #15-30 of the core Defenders title as well as the first four Giant-Size editions. It also reprints Defenders stories printed in issues #6-7 of Marvel Two-In-One, issues #33-35 of Marvel Team-Up and Marvel Treasury Edition #12. The collection was edited by Mark D. Beazley with Michael Short as assistant editor, Jennifer Grünwald as associate editor and Jeff Youngquist as senior editor on special projects. This book shipped to retailers in 2006 and carries a cover price of $16.99 per copy (US).
