Mary Kent was the wife of John Kent. The Kents discovered the Kryptonian rocket containing the infant Kal-L and adopted him as their son. They gave him the human name Clark Kent. Both of the Kents died when Clark was still a young man, not long before adopting the costumed guise of Superman.
