Alan Scott[]
Alan Scott was an engineer who had designed a trestle bridge. A rival named Albert Dekker sabotaged the bridge, causing an explosion that killed Scott's friend and co-worker. Scott survived and discovered a glowing green lantern that selected him to be the benefactor of an ancient prophecy - a prophecy that promised great power. Following the instruction of the disembodied voice emanating from the lantern, Alan crafted a power ring for himself and created a costume, complete with cape and mask. Calling himself Green Lantern, he swore to use this new-found power to fight for justice. Through the ring, Alan was able to generate energy constructs of any shape his mind could imagine. He could also fly and phase through solid matter. When the United States became involved in World War II, Green Lantern did his part to fight against the threat of the Nazis. Along with several other super-powered mystery men, Alan tackled the forces of Adolf Hitler, whose loyalty to him was assured through the power of the Spear of Destiny. Hitler summoned a squadron of Valkyrie who were to attack the United States capitol, but Green Lantern and the other heroes succeeded in saving the life of President Roosevelt. Following this event, Alan and the other heroes formed the Justice Society of America.
Alex Greer[]
Aquarius[]
Aquarius was a sentient living star, whose cosmic essence came to Earth to plague Starman. He tapped into the power of Starman's Cosmic Rod to increase his own power. Starman's comrades in the Justice Society of America came to his aid, but Aquarius defeated them all. Red Tornado recruited assistance from the Justice League of America in the Earth-One reality, but by the time they arrived, Aquarius had the entire JSA under his thrall. During this event, Larry Lance - husband of Black Canary, Dinah Lance, was killed by a star-burst hurled by Aquarius. The Green Lanterns of both realities, Alan Scott and Hal Jordan, chased Aquarius into outer space where they tricked him into entering the Antimatter dimension. This ultimately destroyed Aquarius' form.
