EMCHAC is an anagram which stands for Energy Matrix Channeler and Converter. It is a fictional piece of technology and a weapon featured in comic books published by Marvel Comics. It is considered part of the mainstream Marvel Universe and first appeared in X-Force, Volume 1 #8 in March, 1992.
Description[]
The Energy Matrix Channeler and Converter was a hi-tech device designed to replicate the effects of a hydrogen bomb. It was developed by HYDRA during Baron Wolfgang von Strucker's leadership and built at a secret installation in New Mexico. The key component towards making the EMCHAC work was a Fiber Ionic Fibrillator, which HYDRA stole from their rivals at AIM.
History[]
Some ten years prior to reorganizing the New Mutants, the time-jumping soldier known as Cable led his mercenary team, the Wild Pack on a mission on behalf of AIM to steal back the Fiber Ionic Fibrillator, or FIFI. They succeeded in securing the component, but Baron von Strucker blew up the installation before they could do anything else.
