ED-209 is a fictional robot and a recurring antagonist featured in the RoboCop multimedia franchise. It was first seen in the 1987 feature film RoboCop. The Enforcement Droid, Series 209 was a fully automated peacekeeping tool developed by Omni Consumer Products. It was spear-headed by Dick Jones who presented it to the OCP CEO as the "future of law enforcement". Unfortunately, the ED-209 still had some bugs to work out, and malfunctioned during the presentation, which resulted in the accidental deaths of several OCP staff members. Despite this setback, Dick Jones continued to utilize the ED-209, and pressed it into service when its successor, RoboCop, came into conflict with Dick Jones' underworld contacts.
