Dolly Jean Mayfair is a fictional occult scholar and a recurring character featured on the Mayfair Witches television series on AMC. Played by actress Charlayne Woodard, she first appeared in the fourth episode of season one, "Curiouser and Curiouser".
Biography[]
Dolly Jean is a member of the Mayfair family of New Orleans, and is a cousin of Cortland Mayfair. Although well educated in the family history and the study of witchcraft, Dolly Jean was not one of the family designees. At the behest of her niece, Rowan Mayfair - the current designee of the Mayfair family line of witches, Dolly Jean helped to officiate a ritual of transference, which was designed to break the bond between Rowan and the spirit known as Lasher, and transfer it to a new designee, Tessa Mayfair. When Tessa turned up missing soon after, Dolly Jean reached out to a scrier named Alonso to help find her. Dolly Jean was also present when Rowan learned that not only was Lasher still bound to her, but that he sought to reincarnate himself through Rowan's unborn child.
