Doctor Who and an Unearthly Child is a British science fiction novel relating to the Doctor Who television franchise. It was written by Terrance Dicks and published by W.H. Allen and Co. and Target Books. It was released in hardcover and paperback formats on October 15th, 1981. The story is branded as the "First publication of the very first Doctor Who story". It is an adaptation of the pilot episode of the series, "An Unearthly Child".
