Season Thirteen of the British science fiction television series Doctor Who began airing as a global simulcast in 2021. Regular episodes of the show aired on BBC One in the United Kingdom and BBC America in the United States. This season saw the return of Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor, along with Mandip Gill as Yasmin Khan, marking their third seasons on the show for each of them. Joining the cast this season is John Bishop as Dan, to replace departing season twelve actors Bradley Walsh and Tosin Cole. Season 13 comprises a singular story which carries the subtitle of "Flux".

Doctor Who was created by British TV producer Sydney Newman, with additional material developed by Donald Wilson and C.E. Webber. The original series began airing in the United Kingdom in November 1963 and ran for twenty-six seasons until December 1989. The show was relaunched in 2005 and has since been aired on BBC One and BBC America.
Combining both the original series and the revival series together, this is season 39 of the Doctor Who franchise.
With this season, actors Bradley Walsh and Tosin Cole are no longer on the series.
On January 4th, 2021, it was reported that season thirteen could be the final season with Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor, giving her a three-season run on the show. While rumors of Whittaker's departure have circulated on set, the BBC has declined commenting on any speculation at this time. This news broke three days after BBC America premiered their New Year's special, "Revolution of the Daleks", which bridges seasons twelve and thirteen of the show. ^[1]
On January 1st, 2021, the British Broadcasting Corporation announced that actor John Bishop would be joining the main cast line-up this season, playing a character named Dan. ^[1]
This is Chris Chibnall's final season of the series as showrunner.
"Eve of the Daleks" was released as a New Year's Special, replacing the traditional Christmas Special that the series was known for.
The October, 2022 special, "The Power of the Doctor", represents actress Jodie Whittaker's final appearance on the show, and as such, the final appearance of the Thirteenth Doctor.
With the exception of Maxine Alderton, who co-wrote "Village of the Angels", all six chapters in the "Flux" story were written by Chris Chibnall.
