Doctor Who is a joint UK/US television movie of the science fiction genre. It is a spin-off of the popular British sci-fi series Doctor Who and was directed by Geoffrey Sax and written by Matthew Jacobs, based upon characters originally developed by Sydney Newman. The film aired on the FOX Network in the US on May 14th, 1996 and on BBC One in the United Kingdom on May 27th, 1996. The movie stars Paul McGann as the eighth incarnation of the time-traveling Gallifreyan adventurer known only as the Doctor.
