"Tooth and Claw" is the second episode of season two of the 2005 Doctor Who revival series. It is the sixteenth episode of the series overall. This episode was directed by Euros Lyn and written by Russell T. Davies. It first aired on BBC HD on Saturday, April 22nd, 2006. In this episode, the Doctor and Rose Tyler mistakenly bring the TARDIS to Balmoral, Scotland in the year 1879. They meet Queen Victoria and become involved in a series of events that ultimately lead to the establishment of the Torchwood Institute.

• This episode foreshadows the formation of the Torchwood Institute. The Torchwood Institute is the primary setting of the Torchwood spin-off series.

• Pauline Collins, who plays the role of Queen Victoria in this episode, also played the role of Samantha Briggs in "The Faceless Ones" story-arc from series four of the original Doctor Who.

• Ruari Mears, who plays a monk in this episode, goes on to play further bit parts in future episodes of Doctor Who as well as The Sarah Jane Adventures.
