"Episode 1" is the title to the first chapter in "The Tomb of the Cybermen" storyline from season five of the British science fiction television series Doctor Who. It is the first episode of the season and the 170th episode of the series overall. It was directed by Morris Barry and written by Kit Pedler and Gerry Davis. It was produced by Peter Bryant. This episode first aired on BBC One in the United Kingdom on September 2nd, 1967.
In this episode, the Second Doctor and his companions Jamie McCrimmon and Victoria Waterfield travel in the TARDIS to the planet Telos where they find a human archaeological team excavating an ancient tomb in the side of a mountain. At first the Doctor appears disinterested in their work until he learns that they believe it to be the original resting site of the Cybermen.
