"The Next Doctor" is a one-hour holiday special of the British science fiction television series Doctor Who. It features David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and aired in between seasons four and five of the Doctor Who revival series. It is the first of what becomes a tradition on the series of airing special Christmas episodes on December 25th. This episode was originally broadcast in the United Kingdom in 2008. It first aired in the United States on June 27th, 2009. The episode was directed by Andy Goddard with a teleplay written by Russell T. Davies.
