"The Dead Planet" is the fifth episode of the British science fiction television series Doctor Who. It was directed by Christopher Barry with a script written by Terry Nation. It first aired on BBC One on December 21st, 1963. It is the first chapter in a seven-part storyline that introduces the alien race known as the Daleks, which become one of the most recurring and iconic villains of the entire series.
