"Deep Breath" is the title to the first episode from series eight of the 2005 relaunch of the British science fiction/adventure series Doctor Who and the 99th episode of the series overall. It was directed by Ben Wheatley with a script written by Steven Moffat. It first aired on BBC One in the United Kingdom and on BBC America in the United States on Sunday, August 23rd, 2014.

- Doctor Who was created by British TV producer Sydney Newman, with additional material developed by Donald Wilson and C.E. Webber. The original series began airing in the United Kingdom in November 1963 and ran for twenty-six seasons until December 1989. The show was relaunched in 2005 and has since been aired on BBC One and BBC America.
- "Deep Breath" and "DW: Deep Breath" both serve as shortcuts to this page.
- This is the third appearance of Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor and his first appearance in a regular episode of the series. He previously appearaed in the 2013 holiday special "The Time of the Doctor", and before that as a cameo appearance in the 50th Anniversary Special, "The Day of the Doctor".
- This is the first episode of Doctor Who directed by Ben Wheatley. He directs two episodes in series eight. His next episode is "Into the Dalek".
- This is the sixth appearance of Neve McIntosh as Madame Vastra. She previously appeared in "The Name of the Doctor".
- Dan Starkey last appeared as Strax in "The Time of the Doctor".
- This is the fifth and final appearance of Catrin Stewart as Jenny Flint. She appeared last in "The Name of the Doctor".
- Actress Maggie Service will go on to play a character named Maggie in the Amazon streaming series Good Omens. That series stars David Tennant, who formerly played the Tenth Doctor on Doctor Who.
- Actor Brian Miller was the husband of former Doctor Who actress Elisabeth Sladen, who played Sarah Jane Smith on the series, as well as starring in her own show, The Sarah Jane Adventures. Elisabeth Sladen passed away on April 19th, 2011 at the age of 65.
