Dmitri Smerdyakov is a fictional costumed super-villain featured in comic books published by Marvel Comics. He is associated with the Spider-Man line of titles and is one of Spider-Man's oldest and most enduring foes. He first appeared in the second story in Amazing Spider-Man #1 in March, 1963.
Overview[]
The Chameleon is a Russian spy and criminal who has been operating out of the United States for many years. A master of disguise, he utilizes an array of masks, and hi-tech gadgetry to completely mask his identity, making him appear as anyone he chooses to. Using this traits, he has impersonated Spider-Man on many occasions, causing the wall-crawler an insurmountable measure of grief.
