"Awww, crap. I'm gonna die, aren't I?"

Disproportionate black victim is a storytelling trope found in various forms of media, most often film. Even in film, this trope is generally restricted to the horror genre. A possible cause for this is the perception that black characters, in particular, black men, are seen as being physically heartier and stronger than their white counterparts. So when a black character dies, it raises the perceived threat level by demonstrating an elevated sense of danger for the surviving the white characters.

Modern entertainment has attempted to show greater sensitivity when it comes to people of color, and though this trope still appears from time to time, creators try to shy away from it whenever they can. Still, there are plenty of modern films that still demonstrate examples of this trope.
