Description[]

The Disciples of the Ram are a Satanic cult that was active in the United States throughout the 1960s and 1970s. Their traditions included the worship of Satan and other high-ranking demonic entities, blood rituals and human sacrifice. Demonic iconography of the cult included Baphomet and the summoning of powerful demons such as Malthus.

One of the members of the cult was a woman named Janice, who had been traumatized by a specially made doll named "Annabelle" while she was a youth. As an adult, she ran away from home, changed her name to Annabelle Higgins and joined the cult. During this time, she became romantically tied to a boy whom she then inducted into the cult.

In 1967, Annabelle Higgins returned to her hometown with her boyfriend and broke into her foster parents' house. They murdered both parents, the noise from which alerted neighbors, John and Mia Form. Annabelle and her boyfriend then broke nto the Form residence and attacked them as well. The boyfriend attacked John with a knife and stabbed at Mia, who was pregnant at the time. Annabelle retreated into the nursery where she encountered the Annabelle doll - the same doll that once tormented her as a child. The police arrived and shot the other cultist dead. When they broke into the nursery to arrest Annabelle Higgins, the cultist drew a knife across her own throat, killing herself. A drop of Annabelle's blood dripped into the eye of the doll, indirectly revitalizing the item with evil power. The police found the symbol of the Disciples of the Ram drawn on the nursery role in Annabelle's blood. [1]

A Catholic priest named Father Kastner had spent nine years investigating the actions of the cult. Kastner played a key role in exposing the cult and bringing them to trial. The lead prosecutor of the trial had a wife who was pregnant. A few days after the cult members were all found guilty, the woman gave birth six weeks early. The infant was born with its heart outside of its body. Three months later, the woman committed suicide by laying her neck on a railroad track and allowing a train to run her over.

At some point in time, Father Kastner adopted a young girl named Isla. This was during the time that he had been investigating the cult. It is unclear whether Isla had any direct connection to the cult prior to her adoption. As she grew into adulthood however, she became truly evil, practicing Satanic rituals and even developing some modicum of supernatural abilities, such as being able to project her essence into the minds of other people.

Isla Kastner created a curse that involved three witch's totems. The demands of the curse required the sacrifice of three select individuals: a child, a lover, and a man of God. Supernatural foresight enabled Isla to target such people in the forms of David Glatzel (the child), Arne Johnson (the lover) and paranormal researcher & demonologist Ed Warren (the man of God). [2]
