The Diamonds of Doom are a fictional group of items featured in comic books published by Marvel Comics. They are part of the mainstream Marvel Universe and are associated with the Sub-Mariner line of titles. They first appeared in the first story in Tales to Astonish #72 in October, 1965 titled "A Prince There Was!"
The Diamonds of Doom were located deep in the ocean some distance away from the Hidden Deeps. Unlike traditional diamonds, which reflect light, the Diamonds of Doom generated their own blinding brilliance that could mesmerize and confound those who gazed upon them. The Sub-Mariner came upon the Diamonds of Doom while on a quest to recover the Trident of Neptune.
