Dennis Ryland is a supporting character and occasional antagonist featured on the USA Network television series The 4400. Played by actor Peter Coyote, he was introduced in the series' pilot and appeared in the entire first season with sporadic appearances in subsequent episodes. He appeared in twelve episodes in total. Dennis Ryland was presented as the section chief of the Seattle branch of the National Threat Assessment Command (NTAC) and was placed in charge of monitoring and investigating the 4,400 returnees that suddenly appeared at the base of Mount Rainier in 2004.
