  • This film is inspired by actual events. In Brookfield, Connecticut on February 16th, 1981, Arne Johnson murdered kennel owner and landlord Alan Bono. This was precipitated by allegations that Johnson was present at an exorcism, led by Ed and Lorraine Warren, wherein an afflicted 11-year-old boy, David Glatzel was freed from demonic possession, only to take root in Arne Johnson. During Johnson's trial, the defense entered a plea of "Not guilty" and media blitz surrounding the event earned it the name "The Devil Made Me Do It" case.
  • The actual events upon which this film is based provided the inspiration for the 2021 feature film The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It.
  • Actor Thomas Dorff is credited as Tom Dorff in this film.
  • This film marks the acting debut of Harvey Fierstein.
  • Guy Harris and Charlotte Harris serve as analogs to real-world occult researchers Ed and Lorraine Warren.
