Demolition Man is an American feature film of the action and science fiction genres with elements of cyberpunk and themes involving futuristic timelines, corrupt government regimes, and the "man out of time" film tropes. It was directed by Marco Brambilla with a screenplay written by Daniel Waters, Robert Reneau, and Peter M. Lenkov based on a story treatment by Reneau and Lenkov. It premiered in Los Angeles, California on October 7th, 1993. It opened to national wide release in the United States on October 8th, 1993. The film stars Sylvester Stallone as John Spartan - a cop from the 1990s, who must now adjust to living in the world of 2032. He is tasked with apprehending psychotic criminal Simon Phoenix, played by Wesley Snipes. Assisting Spartan in his manhunt are two plucky San Angeles police officers Lenina Huxley, played by Sandra Bullock, and Alfredo Garcia, played by Benjamin Bratt. Along the way, Denis Leary also pops up as the foul-mouthed revolutionary Edgar Friendly.
