Conjuring film series[]
Debra was a young African American woman who was born sometime around 1935 in Mississippi. When Debra was four-years-old, a group of white people burned down her family's home. Debra's mother died in the fire. As she grew older, Debra was left with nowhere to go, so she was shipped off to a convent to become a novitiate. She took her vows and became a nun sometime in the early to mid 1950s. Despite this, Debra's faith proved challenging for her. She frequently bucked the system, refusing to take confession and for sneaking cigarettes when the other nuns weren't looking. Debra became friends with Sister Irene Palmer, who was a few years older than her. Debra elected to join Sister Irene on a mission to Tarascon, France to investigate the death of Father Noiret, who died as a result of supernatural circumstances. Sister Debra came upon Jacques, an altar boy from Father Noiret's church, who gave her his rosary, which had a strange symbol upon it.
