The Death of the New Gods is an eight-issue comic book limited released between 2007 and 2008. It was published by DC Comics and ran for eight issues. The events that govern this series are fairly self-explanatory. Death of the New Gods focuses on the cosmic beings known as the New Gods, with guest appearances made by Superman. It involves Superman and some of the New Gods trying to determine the identity of a mysterious assassin who is systematically and indiscriminately killing off New Gods on both New Genesis and Apokolips. The series was written and illustrated by veteran cosmic comic creator Jim Starlin with inks by Matt Banning as well as Jared K. Fletcher. The series was colored by Jeromy Cox and lettered by several creators including Jared K. Fletcher, Travis Lanham, Randy Gentile and Steve Wands. It was edited by Mike Marts with Jeanine Schaefer as associate editor.
